Botanical cyanotype in handmade frame
Some time ago, I wanted to experiment and create my own wooden frames for my cyanotype prints. I bought the necessary materials, wooden boards, wooden sticks to make the frame, and other tools. After several hours taking measurements, since the frame was going to be the right size for this cyanotype, neither bigger nor smaller, I got a result that I liked.
On the other hand I had the A5 cyanotype print, it was one of the first times I made this size, and I liked it so much, that I decided, apart from the A6 size, to include the A5 size in my cyanotype kit. This cyanotype was created with a stencil of an old botanical illustration.
The frame, although it was nice, had a very light wood color, and I was not convinced, so, before gluing the cyanotype on the frame, I decided to buy a varnish to give it a darker tone. I did some tests on some leftover wood that I had discarded, and I loved it. It's amazing how wood can change after being varnished.
