Toned cyanotype with coffe
The cyanotype has a characteristic prussian blue color. Sometimes, depending on how the cyanotype was made, especially the time of exposure to sunlight, the color can be lighter or darker. Either way, these cyanotypes can change their shade with different color baths.
A very interesting part of creating cyanotypies is to change their characteristic blue to other shades. There are several ways to change the tone of a cyanotype, you can use red tea, green tea,... or for example, as in this case, coffee. Each of these color baths, will generate a different tone, the best thing is to try and experiment to find which is our favorite.
As you can see in the images, my favorite is undoubtedly the coffee color bath, especially for landscapes. After doing many tests, I have been able to verify that the landscapes made with cyanotype, and later colored with a coffee bath, are the best combination. I love the result they give, much more than with other elements that are not landscapes.
